Here at Protection Dog Training we don’t just do the usual protection dog training we specialise in 4 key areas personal protection dog training, personal protection dog sales, general obedience and canine behavioural problems. Clients wishing to book their dog onto one our residential training courses can book as little as two weeks for minor problems and as long as six weeks for complicated canine behavioural problems. Methods that we use for training is a canine control collar generally work for all breeds large and small from a tiny Yorkshire Terrier up to a St Bernard and are available from us to buy at £20.

Within the last 18 month we have stopped using check chains, choke chains and prong collars, prong collars if used correctly are an effective training aid with some dogs but are not suitable for all dogs. Some dogs when wearing a prong collar can go in to defensive drive or flight drive which is the opposite to want we want to achieve when training on a residential obedience or canine behavioural work. Our aim is to have a happy responsive dog that enjoys their training. Each training course is designed to the customer’s needs and is unique in its own right.

Each dog is kept on its original diet for dogs that are gluten free we can supply the appropriate food as a general rule we feed Sneyds wonder dog 24% protein 10% oil 6.5 Ash contains the vitamins A, D and E and 2lbs of tripe per day.

We don’t just train your dog in a local park, we will train your dog in many different scenarios day and night. We will also work your dog around livestock, horses and sheep etc. Depending on what level of training you require we can train from basic obedience through to police dog standard obedience.

Prices are £100 per day within a 50 mile radius of our postcode. We also accommodate for clients who wish to use this service that don’t live within the 50 mile catchment area prices are negotiable.

option 2, send your dog in for a month residential training, your dog will be trained upto a very high standard, your dog will live in my house, you will be able to come and visit or train with your dog at any time while the dog is on residential, we can provide you accomidation bed and breakfast, for yourselves or your family, this is included in the package, we will send you daily picture messages of progress of your dog, we only undertake 2 dogs under residential at any time

Here at Dog Protection Training we do general obedience training on a one to one basis either at your own home on a home visit or at our canine training centre situated at Blyth North Nottinghamshire S81 8EL. We are easily reached from the M1, M18 A1 M180 and M62 we are just a 4 hrs from Edinburgh and a 3 hr drive from London or Brighton.

We have successively helped clients on a one on to one basis as far as Aberdeen travelling North and as far as Devon travelling South.

Our rates are as follows £50 within the first 50 mile of our postcode this price includes 1 hour training. Over 50 miles will be negotiated. Our rate at our canine training centre start from £40 this includes as much tea or coffee you can drink and a English breakfast within our cafe. We operate a seven day booking system as early as 7.00 am we are fully flood lit on a night time with a secure car park and approximately 1000 acres of land courtesy of our local farmer.

We can help and train any dog with any canine problem such as dog aggression, dogs which are dominating their owners or their children, dogs chasing livestock this includes sheep, cows and horses to name a few. Training problems could include dogs not responding on a recall, dogs pulling on a lead and travelling issues.

One of our many success stories is Gus a 4 yr old German Shepherd male having gone to Dr Rodger Monkford and other celebrity trainers the client had spent thousands of pounds prior to finding ourselves. Some of the problems which Gus had were chasing cars which resulted in the owner being dragged across main roads. Our senior instructor achieved police dog level of obedience in less than 10 training sessions.

General Protection Dog Training is open to all breeds, large and small.  We will teach you on a one to one basis so that the dog learns to protect you and not the trainer.

The dog is taught to bite and detain a person and to release on command. There is a myth that a personal protection dog will just bite and hold the right arm. In reality the dog will fight the attacker but all the dogs are taught to be civil and calm around people and children. They will not attack other dogs or animals.

An important section of the training we do is food refusal training. This stops the dog accepting food from a stranger that may be drugged or poisoned. We are now offering level one protection obedience training, which consists of obedience and speak on command. Level 2 protection training is police dog level of obedience including speak on command and handler protection.

Protection dogs are not robots and need a considerable amount of time and handling.

After purchasing a dog from me, you will be allowed upto 2 days follow up training sessions as part of our handover package. You will be required to travel back to our training centres unless otherwise agreed at the time of sale and the signing of the contract. All dogs receive two independent vet checks, no dogs are supplied with pedigree papers or x rayed  unless stated. All the dogs on our Featured Dogs page are sold with lifetime support for you and the dog included in the price. We have been supplying and training personal protection dogs for over 24 years.

We can arrange for you to view up to 30 German Shepherds at any one time by appointment. We network with some of the biggest suppliers of German Shepherds for police forces & the UK prison service.
